Squares Around (Plan and Cut)

Quilting Life

Yep! That’s how we keep it together. Some days it’s all organized, calm and orderly, and some day’s it’s grab all the bits and pieces scattered around and try to make sense of them (or not).

So, I’m starting a blog adventure. Not sure whether it will help coerce all the bits and pieces into becoming organized, but it’s an adventure! We love Adventure! One day at a time and all that… Are we talking life here, or quilting?

Let’s talk quilting. So much fun!

My goal here is to gather together and share. I'll start with sharing my own designs and work on gathering some tips and tricks, and some life stuff that I find interesting—and I hope you will too.

Grab your scraps or dig into your STASH and let’s get going on our first project.

Squares Around Plan and Cut

Squares Around
Table Topper 28 X 28

This is a great little project to use up some scraps, or to make for a special occasion.  Decide how "scrappy" you want it, or go with a theme.  My next one will be a fall theme.  Think I might do a Christmas one too.  Now, cut the following:
  • Scraps
    • 80-  2" squares to make the 16 patch blocks
  • Accent Fabric (shown white)
    • 8-  5 5/8" squares background
    • 2-  6 1/2" x 1 1/2"
    • 2-  8 1/2" x 1 1/2"
  • Background fabric (shown red)
    • 8  5 5/8" squares
    • 4-  6 1/2" x 2 1/2"
    • 4-  8 1/2" x 2 1/2"
  • Border (shown blue)
    • 2-  2" x 24 1/2"
    • 2-  2" x 27 1/2"
  • Binding(shown blue)
    • 2 1/2" x  3 wof (width of fabric) or piece scraps to match your 16 patches. 120" should give you enough length to bind.
  • Backing and Batting
    • 32" square of each will be enough give for quilting this small project.

That's it for now.  Assembly will be in my next post.
Thanks for stopping by for a look.
